Northville Welcomes Peace, Love and Little Donuts
Northville is about to become a bit sweeter as Peace, Love and Little Donuts plans to open its doors later this year. The new doughnut shop, known for its colorful ambiance and unique flavors, will set up shop at 345 E. Cady St., taking over the location once occupied by Mithai and Chai. The grand opening is expected in November, pending completion of interior work and necessary permits.
A Treat for Everyone
Founded in Pittsburgh in 2009, Peace, Love and Little Donuts is famous for its mini-doughnuts, offering a delightful variety that ranges from classic to creative. Customers will have the chance to enjoy fan favorites such as the cinnamon sugar-coated “Groovy”, chocolate-glazed “Far-Out”, and the unique maple bacon “Funkadelic”, which features crispy bacon on top. Other tempting options include salted caramel macchiato, strawberry shortcake, s’mores, Boston cream pie, and chocolate peanut butter, among others.
Inspiration Behind the Shop
Owners Kathy and Frank Isgro are excited to bring this concept to Northville. “We discovered Peace, Love and Little Donuts while we were on vacation one year,” Kathy shared. Their family quickly fell in love with the doughnuts. “When my older two graduated from high school, they wanted these mini doughnuts at their graduation parties, and our guests went crazy for them.” This love for the doughnuts inspired the Isgros to find the perfect location for a franchise in their hometown.
A Unique Experience for Customers
What sets this doughnut shop apart is its interactive experience. Customers will have the opportunity to watch their doughnuts being made fresh right in front of them. “It’s kind of like food theater,” Kathy explained. Instead of preparing doughnuts in bulk early in the morning, the shop will make doughnuts to order throughout the day. This means fresh doughnuts will always be available, ensuring that customer cravings are met any time they visit.
Options for Everyone
In addition to a vast array of doughnuts, the shop will also serve a variety of coffee drinks and fresh-squeezed orange juice. The Isgros plan to offer gluten-friendly and vegan options as well, catering to different dietary needs depending on demand.
Joining the Community
Kathy, who took a break from her career in finance and project management, is looking forward to being part of the bustling downtown scene. “We raised our kids in downtown Northville, so we were there all the time and still go frequently,” she said. She believes that Peace, Love and Little Donuts will complement the area, especially as the Northville Downs project develops and expands.
Franchise Success
Since starting to franchise in 2016, Peace, Love and Little Donuts has spread to 11 states, with existing locations in Michigan including Ann Arbor, Traverse City, and Portage. There is even another shop on the way to Rochester Hills, indicating the increasing popularity of this unique doughnut franchise.
