LIVONIA Welcomes Archie’s Tavern: A New Chapter for the Palushaj Family
After more than four decades of serving the local community, the Palushaj family is back in the restaurant scene with an exciting new venture — Archie’s Tavern. Following the unexpected sale of the beloved Archie’s Restaurant on Plymouth Road last year, the family has opened their doors to this fresh establishment right at Laurel Park Place on Six Mile Road.
From Archie’s Restaurant to Archie’s Tavern
Michael Palushaj, who runs the tavern alongside his father, George, and uncle Nick managing the kitchen, explained how significant the transition has been. “We had Archie’s Restaurant on Plymouth Road for over 42 years,” Michael shared. “When we sold it last year to a car wash, it caught a lot of people by surprise. Our customers were heartbroken, but we didn’t plan on leaving Livonia. We wanted to stay and worked hard to find the right location.” The new spot, which was previously known as Grand Tavern, has undergone some eye-catching renovations and has been rebranded as Archie’s Tavern, now located at 37714 Six Mile Road.
Two Generations of Family Tradition
With a renewed vision, the Palushaj family maintained the taste of tradition while introducing exciting new options. “We took from the classics and added some new twists,” Michael said. The menu proudly features customer favorites, including Archie’s Famous Fish ‘N Chips, a cherished dish that has delighted customers for the last 42 years, alongside iconic offerings like broasted chicken, Italian dishes, and barbecue baby back ribs.
Michael also noted that they decided to streamline the menu for the modern dining landscape, especially post-COVID. “Before, it was super big, but nowadays, with food costs rising… it’s near impossible. Now, we have a good-sized menu with plenty of options, but we’ve kept everything fresh and homemade.”
Dive Into the New Offerings
Besides the treasured classics, the tavern is excited to unveil a variety of new offerings as well. Guests can now enjoy half-pound Angus burgers, vibrant salads, and delightful bar appetizers like nachos and quesadillas. One of the most exciting changes is the introduction of a full bar that features 12 beers on draft and an array of signature drinks. Patrons can enjoy popular choices such as old fashioneds, pumpkin spice martinis as the season changes, and refreshing flavored margaritas during Taco Tuesdays. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 2 to 6 p.m., adding to the local hangout’s appeal.
Community Response and Engagement
Since opening in August, Archie’s Tavern has been bustling with activity, welcoming both familiar faces and newcomers alike. “A lot of our old regulars have become regulars again,” Michael shared with a smile. “We’ve also met many new people! The nearby hotels bring in business travelers and sports teams, which has been exciting for us.”
Passion for Hospitality
While the new location may feel different, the dedication to hospitality remains unchanged for the Palushaj family. George, who has been in the restaurant industry since his teen years, expressed his lifelong passion. “I like people. I love taking care of them. When they say everything was wonderful, that makes me happy,” he said. This heartfelt attitude has undoubtedly contributed to the cozy atmosphere that many have come to cherish.
