Giant Inflatable Duck Takes Over Farmington Park For Noble Cause

In the heart of Farmington, a park has been hosting an unusual but eye-catching guest—an enormous inflatable duck. Standing as high as six-stories, the yellow curiosity proved to be a major draw for locals and visitors alike. The massive rubbery bird claimed to be the ‘world’s largest duck’ isn’t just for laughs or Instagram moments but serves a more profound purpose.

Curious Duck Race for Charity

In a unique effort to raise funds, a local social service agency organized a rubber ducky race. Over 8,000 small, cute rubber ducks went with the flow in the Rouge River located near the park this Wednesday. Though the final fundraising total has yet to be announced, the aim is to reach a critical monetary target to help distribute nutritious food items to hundreds of families located in and around Farmington.

This organization runs a fully-equipped food pantry and has a small grocery store situated in a former church campus on Shiawassee Street in Farmington. To cover its monthly bill to a regional community food bank, a whopping sum of $14,000 is needed. This effort helps as many as 750 families from the surrounding communities to have access to regular, wholesome meals.

For a Greater Cause

The cause behind the whole duck spectacle is indeed noble. Apart from the rubber duck race, the arrival of the six-story-high duck itself attracted much attention. It’s an impressive sight to behold as it squats firmly in the middle of the park, tipping the scales at an incredible 15 tons.

So if you are walking by the park, take a moment to admire the giant duck and remember the purpose it serves. Not every day you get to see such a sizeable feathery visitor bringing smiles and food to the community.
