Young Pro-life Interns Spend Summer Impacting Novi Community
Over the past summer, the usual calm of the Holy Family Parish in Novi was replaced with the enthusiam of 22 young pro-life interns, spreading awareness about the value of life. From May till August, the interns reached out to the Novi community through a summer-long internship program organized by Protect Life Michigan.
The interns have spent their summer months having meaningful conversations about abortion and life, reaching out to the locals and making a difference in their community. The church has welcomed the influx of energy and spirit, noticing a significant influence of the interns’ work within the community as well as in the church itself.
In the past three months, the church has served as the ‘home base’ for these interns. They have spent this time practicing street evangelism, engaging in personal conversations and encouraging a broader understanding of life and abortion issues.
The atmosphere within the church has been saturated with a powerful sense of faith and devotion. The young interns have been often spotted in the chapel, reflecting and praying, keeping their faith at the center of their activities.
Initiatives have taken many forms, from sidewalk counseling to door-to-door canvassing, allowing the interns to connect with the community on a personal level. The ultimate goal remains to increase understanding and change perspectives about abortion through intellectual and empathetic dialogue.
According to Protect Life Michigan, the interns have managed to reach over 148,000 people with their pro-life message in the span of a single summer. As a result of their efforts, the organization states there are now “3,665 fewer pro-choice people and 2,542 more pro-life people” in the Novi area.
These young interns have brought a necessary dialogue to Novi. Through their efforts, they have not only changed perspectives but also opened up avenues for deeper, more meaningful conversations about human life.
Their journey has been one of learning, personal growth, and rising faith. In fact, it highlights the power of youth when guided by faith and a noble cause.
Looking ahead, Protect Life Michigan plans to continue these internships. Even as the summer comes to an end, the impressions and impacts of these young minds will continue to resonate within the church and Novi community.
