Book Lovers Unite at Detroit’s Bookstock Used Book and Media Sale!

If you’re a fan of reading, music, or just hunting for a good deal, you won’t want to miss Detroit’s biggest event for book and media lovers: Bookstock, the annual used book and media sale, is back, and this time it promises to be bigger and better than ever! Running from April 27 to May 4, 2025, at Laurel Park Place in Livonia, Michigan, this exciting event is packed with treasures waiting to be discovered.

What to Expect

With a jaw-dropping selection of over 400,000 gently used items, you can dive into a sea of choices. From books and DVDs to CDs, vinyl records, and audiobooks, there’s something for everyone. No matter what your taste is, you’re bound to find a gem—or three—to take home!

Supporting a Great Cause

What makes Bookstock extra special? It’s not just about grabbing a great deal; it’s also about supporting literacy and education initiatives in the community. Since its inception in 2003, this heartwarming event has raised over $3.2 million for local projects, making a real difference in people’s lives. The sale is organized entirely by volunteers who work hard all year long sorting through donations at Congregation Beth Ahm in West Bloomfield Township.

Presale and Admission Details

On April 27, the festivities kicked off with a presale event from 8:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. For a mere $25, dedicated book-lovers had the chance to get first dibs on the amazing selection. After the presale hours, the sale opens up for free admissions from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Incredible Deals Await!

As you browse through the aisles, you’ll be delighted to discover prices that are remarkably affordable. Children’s books range from just $1 to $3, while hardcover books published since 2020 are priced at $6. For trade paperbacks and older hardcovers, you’re looking at only $4, with pocket paperbacks available for just $2. Love vinyl? Grab your favorites for only $1 each!

Special Offers Throughout the Week

Mark these dates on your calendar for special discounts! On April 29 and 30, as part of Teacher Appreciation Days, teachers can enjoy 50% off their purchases after showing a valid ID from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. On May 1, bring back your Bookstock bag from a previous year for a sweet 20% off your purchase. And on May 2 and May 3, don’t miss the amazing bundle deal on pocket paperbacks—get 15 for just $10! Finally, on the last day, May 4, every item will be 50% off!

Unique Collections Await

This isn’t just your average sale! Bookstock also features a special collections area, where you can find unique and rare books, including first editions from the 1800s—perfect for collectors or anyone who wants something truly special.

A Fresh Stock Daily

What’s really neat is that throughout the week, new batches of donated goods will be replenished every day. This means there’s always a fresh selection for you to explore, so you might just find something you missed on your last visit!

All About Community

Bookstock isn’t just about books; it’s about connecting with fellow enthusiasts and giving back to the community. The funds raised help local educational institutions, including programs that support Aim High School, which caters to students with special needs. That’s something to feel good about with every purchase!

So, whether you’re a bookworm, a music lover, or simply looking for a fun day out, make sure to stop by Bookstock at Laurel Park Place from April 27 to May 4. Bring your friends, bring your family, and get ready to embark on a delightful treasure hunt for books and more—all while doing something meaningful for the community!
