Commerce Twp., MI: Fall Bug Hunt Invites Curious Minds
Calling all bug enthusiasts and science buffs! Come down to Commerce Twp., MI this fall and uncover the creatures living in the Rouge river. The Friends of the Rouge – Fall Bug Hunt is an exciting event inviting everyone – adults and children over eight- believed to take on the role of a Rouge Community Scientist.
What’s fascinating about the event? You’ll dive deep into the world beyond fish and turtles. Expect to encounter a stunning variety of aquatic critters – including insects, crayfish, snails, and clams – all integral parts of the underwater food chain.
But there’s more to it than just a fun day out. The presence or absence of these riverbed inhabitants provides critical information about the health of the river water and the overall habitat. Therefore, your bug hunting contributes directly to the understanding and preservation of the Rouge river balances.
The best part is, you don’t need previous experience to join in. All you need to do is register, gear up with your magnifying glass, and get ready to explore.
