In a shocking turn of events in Canton Township, a local dad was tragically killed this past Saturday. According to reports from the police, the quarrel ignited over a trivial matter. The neighbor shot the man after his daughter touched some mulch in the shooter’s yard, sparking his rage.
The father was 35 years old, and the tragic incident occurred on Cornell Street. However, the police have not officially disclosed the identity of the deceased.
The man, known as Nathan Morris, was a resident of the neighborhood and worked as an engineer at Ford Motors. Morris was known for his involvement in the community and had recently applied his candidacy for a position on the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Board of Education.
While walking in the neighborhood with his family, his young daughter innocently touched the mulch in the neighbor’s yard. This led to a heated exchange with the neighbor, and Morris decided to send his family home before the situation escalated. Unfortunately, this confrontation ended with Morris being fatally shot.
Witnesses state that on Saturday, after the 11:48 a.m. call to the police, Morris was found bleeding in the street. He was quickly transferred to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
After the shooting, the neighbor involved barricaded himself inside his house. After a standoff, he was finally arrested by the police and is currently in custody.
Many who knew Nathan describe him as a great father and a good human being. Even in his last moments, he was thinking about the safety of his children. The loss of Morris has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving everyone baffled and heartbroken.
On the other hand, the alleged shooter, who remains unnamed due to ongoing legal proceedings, was known for his disagreeable nature. Several residents have noted that he frequently engaged in arguments with others. Some even suggest that he might have been dealing with issues related to mental health.
Nathan Morris is survived by his wife Becky, and two young daughters, Molly and Zoey. The family has been devastated by the loss, and a fundraiser has been organized to provide support during these challenging times.
The Canton Police Department and its Chief Chad Baugh extended their heartfelt condolences to Morris’ family and friends, and to all the neighbors who had to witness this dreadful incident. The chief also stressed that this fatal shooting was a “senseless act of violence.”
