Tropical Storm Debby’s impacts have notably stretched beyond New York, causing severe flash flooding and wind-related damage in various parts of the southern states. From causing record rainfall and spawning multiple tornadoes in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, Debby has left an indelible mark across these regions. As the storm moves northward, it is projected to bring up to 6 inches more rain in some areas over the weekend, exacerbating the already grim situation.
Severe flash flooding triggered by Debby has given rise to water rescues, and led to substantial disruptions in land transportation as many roads and bridges were overrun by flooding waters. Power outages have also been widespread, with more than 300,000 reported outages over the past three days.
