Detroit, MI – The sixth week of the Michigan high school football season witnessed thrilling matches throughout the Metro Detroit area. With teams battling fiercely under the Friday night lights, fans enjoyed memorable performances and competitive games.
Led by standout players, the Detroit PSL teams showcased exceptional talent. Detroit Central delivered a brutal performance against Detroit Northwestern, winning 52-0. Antoine Kimball stood out with impressive stats, completing 3 of 9 passes for 74 yards while rushing for an additional 43 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Michael Reid added to Central’s dominance with 102 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Moreover, Calondrey Hardy contributed to the victory, returning two interceptions for touchdowns while also making seven tackles. Detroit Central now boasts a 4-2 season record, maintaining a strong position at 4-0 in PSL Gold.
Another one-sided matchup featured Detroit Denby crushing Detroit Osborn 46-0, with Dreshaun Johnson leading the charge with 197 all-purpose yards. The Denby defense was stellar as Kevin Kellar recorded four sacks, while Robert Davis had five tackles for loss. Denby improved its record to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in PSL Blue.
In a thrilling contest, Novi edged out Plymouth with a narrow 21-20 victory. Quarterback Johnny Aurelia was instrumental, throwing for 172 yards and leading the team with a go-ahead 71-yard touchdown pass to Jaden Vondrasek. Reece Pippen caught the winning two-point conversion, allowing Novi to maintain an undefeated streak in the KLAA West at 5-0.
Not to be outdone, Harper Woods dominated Southfield Arts & Tech in a 49-6 blowout, with Dakota Gurrant shining through with three touchdowns. This win elevated Harper Woods’ season record to 3-3 and 2-1 in OAA White.
Elsewhere, Detroit Pershing secured a convincing 28-8 win over Detroit Cody. Mark Williams made headlines with ten tackles and two forced fumbles, leading a staunch defensive effort that helped Pershing improve to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in PSL Gold.
In the Huron League, Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central continued its winning streak, defeating Riverview 34-15. Brady Hines was a standout performer with 54 rushing yards and two touchdowns. This victory marked Catholic Central’s impressive run, moving their record to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in Huron play.
Meanwhile, Dearborn proved dominant against Wayne Memorial with a 58-0 victory, while Livonia Franklin narrowly defeated Livonia Stevenson 28-27 in overtime, providing yet another dramatic finish for fans.
