Detroit Tigers Fans Gear Up for Playoff Excitement

Detroit is buzzing with excitement as the Detroit Tigers prepare for a significant playoff game this Saturday. Fans are not just showing support from home; many are making the short drive to Cleveland, eager to witness the action in person. Among them is an extraordinary fan whose dedication has taken him on quite the adventure this season.

A Fan Like No Other

Meet Joe Moskaitis, a 29-year-old die-hard Tigers supporter from Novi, who has surpassed the typical fan experience. While the Tigers played 81 home games at Comerica Park this season, Moskaitis has attended a staggering 103 games so far and plans for more. “I was planning on 101, but with the playoffs happening, now it’s 104 tomorrow on Saturday,” he shared with enthusiasm.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a Tigers fan as dedicated as Moskaitis. His commitment has taken him across the country, from Oakland to Toronto, and even Boston to Chicago, as he follows his beloved team. “For the last couple of months, I essentially went to every single game I could,” he explained. “It was only the west coast trips that I missed.”

Turning Passion into a Mission

Moskaitis has been a three-year season ticket holder, and this year, he set an ambitious goal to attend 100 Tigers games. However, he admitted that the playoff push has him wanting to see just how high that number can go. “At what point did you think wow, this team might actually make the playoffs?” I asked him. He reminisced, “I’d say middle to late August, I said ‘you know, this could happen. This actually could happen.’” His disbelief in the team’s performance quickly transformed into a mission.

Work and Play

Thanks to his remote work setup, Moskaitis can easily make last-minute trips to catch the Tigers in action. “I did an interview with you from a hotel in Houston,” he said, sharing a recent trip. “I said, ‘you know what? Wild Card — we haven’t been to the playoffs in 10 years. I’m gonna fly there and I’ll go work in Houston for the week.’ Had to go see it, and it was fun to see.”

Unforgettable Memories

What started as a quest for 100 games has turned into a playoff fever for Moskaitis. He reflected on how incredible it has been to watch the team come together. “It’s just unbelievable seeing them all come together. If someone’s got an off day, another guy is hot that day. They’ve got each other’s backs,” he noted. “They’re fighting and clawing for every single game. It’s truly unbelievable seeing what they’ve done this year.”

Game Day Excitement

As the fans gear up for the playoff game, there’s an air of hope and anticipation. Many are rallying together, wearing their team colors, and sharing stories of their favorite moments from the season. For Moskaitis, every game has been a part of a larger journey, filled with passion and countless memories that he will cherish forever.

With the playoffs upon them, it seems that Detroiters are ready to support their Tigers wholeheartedly. Whether from the stands in Cleveland or back home at their favorite sports bar, fans are united in their love for the team, eagerly anticipating what promises to be an unforgettable postseason filled with thrilling baseball.
