Exciting Election Races Unfold in Novi, Michigan

It’s election time once again in Novi, Michigan! The recently concluded primary election has set the stage for some exciting contests to watch out for in the forthcoming November general elections. As expected, there were some nail-biting races while others saw some clear winners from the get-go.

In the race to secure a much-coveted seat in the U.S. Senate, Democrat Elissa Slotkin and Republican Mike Rogers emerged victorious in their respective parties’ primaries and will go head to head on November 5th.

On the U.S. House of Representatives front, the 6th District will see incumbent Democrat Debbie Dingell and Republican Heather Smiley, both unopposed in the primary, representing their respective parties. As for the 11th District, incumbent Haley Stevens was successful in capturing the Democratic nomination, and will face Republican Nick Somberg in the general election in November.

The state-level legislative elections are just as packed with political movers and shakers. Unopposed in their respective party’s primary, Democrat Kelly Breen will face off against Republican Thomas Konesky for the Michigan House District 21 seat.

The same scenario was repeated for the Michigan House District 49 seat where Democrat Andy Wood and incumbent Republican Ann Bollin emerged as their respective party’s primary winners.

In county level electoral races, the current Oakland County Executive, Democrat David Coulter and Republican Nik Gjonaj ran unopposed in their respective parties’ primaries. Meanwhile, current Oakland County Prosecuting Attorney, Democrat Karen McDonald and Republican Scott Farida also had no opposition in their party’s primary and will face each other in November.

For the Oakland County sheriff position, Democrat Amrit Kohli and incumbent Republican Michael J. Bouchard emerged as their party’s nominees without any challengers in the primary.

Regarding the Oakland County treasurer’s race, incumbent Democrat Robert Wittenberg was unopposed in the primary, but Donna Blake emerged as the winner of the Republican primary.

In the run for the Oakland County water resources commissioner, the election came down to incumbent Democrat Jim Nash and Republican Steve Johnson who won their party’s nomination.

Lastly, the primary for 6th Circuit Court judge saw Tricia Dare and Nicole Sophia-Calhoun Huddleston securing the most and the second-most votes respectively. The two will square off in November for the court seat.
