Traffic Flow Restored on I-75 South after Unexpected Shutdown in Wayne County

Detroit, Wayne County – After an unexpected shutdown, traffic on the Interstate 75 South at the I-96 intersection in Wayne County recovered its flow on Friday evening. Based on a report of local law enforcement and transportation officials, the highway was closed in the afternoon, alarming drivers seeking to transition to their weekend. Fortunately, the disruption was resolved later in the evening.

The shutdown startled motorists who rely on I-75 South and I-96 for daily commutes or weekend trips. The eastbound lanes of the I-96 ramp to I-75 south were also affected. The closure began at 4.27 p.m. on Friday. Anxieties heightened as the ramps at Clark Street, Vernor Highway, Rosa Parks, West Grand Blvd, and Springwells were also closed.

However, it was not long before all was restored. With great satisfaction, commuters returned to their normal travel plans by 6.57 p.m. For the time being, travelers can now rejoice in the steady flow of traffic as all lanes are now open. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, “the situation on Eastbound I-96 ramp to I-75 South has been resolved.”

We are grateful to the road officials and construction teams for their swift action in reopening the lanes. We remind all motorists to heed traffic rules, be patient when unplanned shutdowns happen and always prioritize safety on the road.
