Fine Dining and History Blend Seamlessly at Plymouth’s Ledger

If you’re on the lookout for the perfect date night spot in Plymouth, look no further than the Ledger. This popular locale sports a lavish, modern interior, complete with high ceilings and a creatives menu that offers something for everyone. Packed with traditional steakhouse favourites and innovative global dishes, the Ledger has something for every palette – making it the town’s favourite hotspot.

The Ledger isn’t just a new restaurant; it’s got quite the history behind it as well. For years, the building holding the Ledger was once a bank, recent times saw it become a Greek diner. Now, it’s been given a complete makeover, looking every part the stylish restaurant that it is today.

Emphasising high quality dining matched with sleek, modern interiors, the Ledger is a hit amongst the young professional crowd. While some might find it a bit pricey for regular visits, it’s perfect for special occasions or an occasional high-end dining experience.

Chef Greg Alexiev, the man behind the tantalising dishes, was initially nervous to move from a casual dining concept to the upscale experience of the Ledger. However, he believes this unique approach was something that Plymouth needed.

The Ledger has an upbeat atmosphere without being excessively loud, thanks to careful attention into soundproofing. It’s a great place to converse without having to shout over music or chatter from other tables.

The locale serves up quality dishes such as filet mignon, bone marrow appetizer, bourbon-maple roasted carrots and bib lettuce salads. For those with an adventurous palette, they also serve concoctions like harissa lamb pierogi, a strawberry-infused Aperol spritz cocktail, Brussels sprouts with Japanese flavours, and innovative treats like a beef tallow candle lit at your table.

The customer service at Ledger is commendable, with staff ensuring bottles are always filled, and offering helpful suggestions for meals. Efforts are also made to remind customers about special occasions being celebrated, with cards and glasses of bubbly.

The Ledger offers a few specials that keep patrons coming back for more. These include the Alaskan Halibut that comes highly recommended. Another favourite is the Alaskan car bomb – a delightful dessert made from Guinness brownie and ice cream, covered with a dome of charred Italian meringue.

On the whole, the Ledger has earned its favourable reputation amongst locals. With excellent food, stellar service, and an impressive ambience, it makes for a delightful dining experience – particularly for a romantic outing.
