Detroit is in for a treat this summer, as LittleGuide Detroit gears up to host its popular Stroller Roll event, a free family-oriented extravaganza. The family-friendly event, a mix of casual stroll and celebration, is designed to be a light-hearted reason for families to step outdoors, enjoy the fresh air and partake in communal festivities.
Slated to take place on Saturday, July 20th at the Wayne County Park’s Nankin Mills Recreation Area, the Stroller Roll event traditionally attracts thousands of attendees each year. The Nankin Mills venue is located along Hines Drive. Here, six miles of Hines Drive from Nankin Mills to Outer Drive is temporarily closed during the summer Saturdays, creating an expansive safe space for pedestrians and cyclists.
The festivities of the day kick off at 9am and wind down at 11am. It promises to pack more fun and excitement than ever thanks to a new partnership with Wayne County Parks, which will concurrently host their annual Bugtopia event at the same location. With the scaled-up event, families can look forward to even more family fun with inflatables, a visit from Spider-Man, bug safari, and much more.
The agenda of the Stroller Roll features a plethora of activities. Participants are urged to register online and enjoy a variety of entertainment and engagement such as character visits from Fairytale Entertainment, FREE Bike Helmets from Gardner White, interactive activities from Bubble Girl, Huron-Clinton Metropark’s mobile nature center, Totcercise Mobile Soft Play Gym, and We Rock the Spectrum Gym.
In addition to the above, you can also look forward to giveaways and more from Goldfish Swim School, Michigan State University Broad College EMBA program, National Heritage Academies, and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School.
One of the unique highlights of the event will be the Touch-A-Truck activities. Here, attendees can get up close and personal with vehicles such as Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s Panda One Ambulance, Wayne County Sherriff vehicle, horses and vehicles from Westland Fire Department, and cars from Ford Motor Company.
Aside from these exciting activities, there’s plenty more to explore at Nankin Mills. Families can spend a delightful day out exploring playgrounds, bike tracks, and fishing spots, all within a short distance from the event location.
The event, although free, requires attendees to pre-register for planning and logistic purposes. So, families in and around Detroit, mark your calendars and ready yourself for a day full of fun and laughter. With inflatables, favorite characters, and touch-a-truck adventures, this Stroller Roll is set to be a memorable one for Detroit families.
