Livonia Man on Child Porn Charges

Livonia Man on Child Porn Charges

In a shocking turn of events, a registered sex offender from Livonia is under hot water. The man is alleged to have received and kept child pornography material, as shown in federal court documents. Brett David Goodreau, a 43-year-old man, was accused of the heinous crimes just last month.

Goodreau’s charges include both, receiving child pornography and having child pornography in his possession. The indictment came from a grand jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on July 23. If found guilty, Goodreau would be looking at 15 to 40 years in jail, given his prior criminal history. There has been no comment on these charges from Goodreau’s Lawyer yet.

The investigation into Goodreau started in February when a suspect arrested in Bakersfield, Calif., confessed to having sent child pornographic videos to Goodreau. The police found conversations between the two on the suspect’s cell phone, further implicating Goodreau in the matter.

On March 12, Homeland Security agents raided Goodreau’s Livonia residence and confiscated several electronic devices. The findings were distressing, with Goodreau’s phone containing over 200 explicit videos and 25 indecent images of children. Additionally, Goodreau confessed to having an online account on a website known to host child pornography files, and allowed agents to access it.

The account revealed even more disturbing content, with approximately 1,690 explicit images and 107 videos of children. Further investigations showed that he had accessed the account as recently as March 4. Besides, chats of Goodreau exchanging child pornographic material with an unidentified individual were discovered.

Goodreau has been a registered sex offender in Michigan for nearly two decades, following a conviction for a fourth-degree sexual conduct crime in 2003. At the time, Goodreau was turned in by a mother who noticed him touching her 5-year-old son inappropriately. As a result, he pleaded guilty, served a nine-month sentence, and was put on probation for three years. He has been locked up since July 17.
