Luxurious ‘Castello Montebello’ Mansion in Northville Up for Auction at Starting Bid of $1.5 Million

Northville’s Stunning ‘Castello Montebello’ Mansion Heads to Auction with a Starting Bid of $1.5 Million

Northville — The owner of a sprawling 16,000-square-foot classic European-style estate near downtown Northville is ready to sell the home and is prepared to make a significant deal.

Named “Castello Montebello,” the mansion, built in 2000 and owned by Dr. Thomas Prose, will be up for grabs on Monday, Aug. 26. The bidding will start at a mere $1.5 million . The property was initially listed in 2015 for a hefty $14.5 million and was most recently on the market for $4.9 million.

“The seller is motivated; he wants the property sold,” said Stacy Kirk, Vice President of Interluxe Auctions, the firm handling the sale. “He’s ready to pass the torch to the next family so they can make their dreams come true.”

Sitting at 590 Dubuar Street, this stunning home is perched at what is believed to be the highest elevation in Wayne and Washtenaw counties. The mansion features seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and two half baths. It also includes a guard house and numerous luxurious highlights such as a four-story free-floating staircase , a brightly illuminated great room with soaring ceilings, a lavish owner’s suite, a paneled library, heated three-car and four-car garages, and even an elevator.

But, there’s more. The lower level is designed for “ultimate entertainment,” with amenities such as a stylish wet bar with adjacent booth-style seating, a game room, an exercise room, and a wine cellar. The highlight of this level is a 13-seat theater designed to replicate New York City’s iconic Paramount Theater.

“This stunning estate, with its impeccable finishes and prime location, offers an unparalleled opportunity for those seeking luxury and exclusivity,” said Kirk, adding that a home inspection returned as “practically flawless.” Despite being 24 years old, the property shows virtually no deterioration.

Interluxe Auctions has partnered with Dylan Tent of Signature Sotheby’s International Realty to manage the online auction. “This home is truly a standout in the Michigan real estate market, with its exquisite features and stunning finishes,” commented Tent. “Interluxe’s approach aligns perfectly with the caliber of this property, and I’m excited to see how this partnership will showcase Castello Montebello to a global audience.”

Bidding will be conducted exclusively online when the auction kicks off at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26 . Interested buyers can preview the home on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23-24 , from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. , and on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m . More details about the property, additional photos, and procedures for registering to bid can be found at the Interluxe website.
