Michigan Set to Unveil Quirky New Designs for Iconic “I Voted” Stickers This November

Michigan’s ‘I Voted’ Stickers to Get a New Look This November

In an exceptional break from tradition, Michigan’s iconic “I Voted” sticker is set to receive a quirky revamp this coming November. The Michigan Secretary of State has unveiled the new designs, which include eclectic visions such as a werewolf tearing off its shirt, a chic deer donning sunglasses, and a yielding cat with a malicious smirk. The innovative designs are the winning entries of the state-wide “I Voted” sticker contest, which was categorized into elementary, high school, and general brackets.

Diverse Winning Designs Announced

The winning designs expose the diverse creative imagination of Michigan dwellers. One of the winning stickers is a product of a hard-working middle-school student from Grosse Pointe, it features an intense graphic of a werewolf against the backdrop of an American flag, apparently tearing off its shirt. Another is a colorful rendition of the word ‘hooray’ created by a dedicated high school student from Holly High School.

The ingenious designs were selected from a pool of over 480 entries and crowned through public voting. The competition witnessed the participation of enthusiastic designers across the state and garnered more than 57,700 public votes, according to official reports.

Category-wise Winning Stickers

Elementary/Middle School Category

In this category, the sheer inventiveness of the younger generation of Michigan was on full display. Their untrammeled imagination brought forth a variety of interpretations of what participating in the democratic process means to them.

High School Category

Potential artists in this category submitted sophisticated designs reflecting more mature views of the electoral process, democratic involvement, and representative politics. These designs revealed a passion for civic duty coupled with artistic fervor, often reflecting a nuanced understanding of the importance of voting.

General Category

This category, open to all Michigan residents, featured inventive and unique designs. The creativity exhibited by Michigan’s denizens in this category often manifested as cheeky, bold, and even irreverent takes on the electoral process, signaling a sense of humor and an in-depth understanding of the state’s diverse political landscape.

These newly designed stickers are not just for aesthetic appeal. They aim to encourage voter turnout by appealing to individuals’ love for locally crafted art and stimulate the pride associated with the act of voting, in tandem emphasizing the value of every vote and every voice.

This November, as Michigan voters step out to voice their choices in crucial U.S. Senate and U.S. House races, they will proudly display on their lapels these artistic refreshers of their civic participation, a reminder of their role in shaping the future of their state.
