Michigan Supreme Court Race Rocked by Matthew DePerno’s Unexpected Withdrawal Amidst Controversy

MICHIGAN SUPREME COURT RACE SEES A SHOCKING WITHDRAWAL

Note-worthy Candidate Matthew DePerno Withdraws Under Controversial Circumstances

Controversy Mired DePerno Drops Out

FLINT, MI – In a major political development, a controversial Michigan attorney, Matthew DePerno has withdrawn from the Michigan Supreme Court race. DePerno, a former Republican attorney general candidate, was under the public microscope for his alleged role in tampering with the 2020 presidential election results.

DePerno announced his decision to drop from the race on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, a day before his party’s nominating convention. He stated his decision was based on how he could best assist former President Donald Trump to reclaim the presidency.

A Detroit attorney, Alexandria Taylor, and Circuit Court Judge Patrick O’Grady remain on the Republican ballot as a result of DePerno’s withdrawal.

Drama Unfolds in Michigan’s Supreme Court Race

DePerno’s withdrawal has left conspicuous ripples in the political landscape. The election will determine the majority control as two seats are available on the panel. The open seat, currently held by Justice Kyra Harris Bolden, was part of DePerno’s political ambitions, which he announced back in June 2024.

The other seat, held by Justice David Vivano has the backing of the Republicans. Presently, Democrats hold a 4-3 majority on the bench.

Allegations and Legal Charges

DePerno’s run was marred by a criminal case filed against him by the Oakland County Circuit Court. DePerno was embroiled in a legal controversy involving alleged voting machine tampering following the 2020 presidential elections.

He is accused of being a major instigator behind unlawfully taking five vote tabulators from three Michigan counties, breaking into them, and performing ‘tests’ on the equipment. His legal charges include undue possession of a voting machine, conspiracy to commit undue possession of a voting machine, conspiracy to commit unauthorized access to a computer, and willfully damaging a voting machine.

DePerno’s case is still pending and is expected to influence the political landscape of Michigan.
