Novi Gears Up for an Exciting Weekend of Events

This weekend, Novi is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to welcome locals and visitors alike to the 2024 Michigan Women’s Expo at the Suburban Collection Showplace. Taking place from Friday through Sunday, this annual event is a celebration of everything from fashion and wellness to home decor and beyond. It’s not just a shopping experience; it’s a chance for attendees to enjoy live demonstrations, sample products, gather health information, and even receive complimentary assessments.

Unwind in the Garden Oasis

After a day of exploring the various exhibitors and vendors, attendees can take a breather in a specially designed garden rest area, created by Everett’s Landscape. This peaceful spot offers a perfect escape to relax and recharge before diving back into the action. And if you get hungry, there will be a concessions area to help you refuel and refresh.

Access to the expo is quite affordable! Admission is $13 for adults, $6 for children ages 3-14, and completely free for kids 2 and under. Just a heads up, parking will cost $10 per car at the venue, so plan accordingly!

October Brings a Special Cause

As we step into October, it’s important to remember that it’s also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of this significant cause, Epiphany Glass Studios in Pontiac will release a stunning limited-edition “Pretty in Pink” glass pumpkin on October 1. These exquisite hand-blown pumpkins, designed by master glass artist April Wagner, showcase a soft pink hue complemented by dichroic accents and mint green stems. Each pumpkin is signed and numbered, with a generous $20 donation from each sale going to the Pink Fund, which supports breast cancer patients.

“These pumpkins are not only beautiful, but also an important part of our contribution to raising awareness and supporting a cause that impacts so many lives,” said Wagner. The pumpkins will be available both in-store and online while supplies last at 770 Orchard Lake Road.

Home Improvement Enthusiasts Rejoice!

The excitement in Novi continues with the return of the Novi Home Show, happening from October 11-13. Homeowners and DIY enthusiasts will have the chance to meet industry experts and browse a variety of exhibitors showcasing the latest in home improvement solutions and renovation trends. This event is designed for the whole family, featuring exclusive giveaways, interactive activities, and gardening seminars to inspire ideas for your next home project.

Admission to the home show is $10 online or $12 at the gate, with discounted rates available for seniors aged 65 and over, and kids 12 and under can join for free. Evenings offer a special $5 ticket at the box office after 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday—what a deal!

Book Lovers’ Paradise Awaits

If you’re looking to add to your personal library, don’t miss out on the upcoming Used Book Sale hosted by the Friends of the Livonia Library from October 4-6. This is their largest sale of the year, featuring a vast selection of books for all ages. And as a perk for those who want first dibs, a pre-sale for members and teachers with ID will take place on October 3. On October 6, there will be a bag sale where you can fill a bag for just $5.

Not to be missed, the Friends of the Dearborn Heights Library will also hold their Fall Used Book Sale on October 10-12, with a special bag day on the final day where you can fill a bag for just $5! Bring the family and explore a treasure trove of books, DVDs, and more.

Fall into DIY Projects

As autumn approaches, it’s time to add some seasonal flair to your home. If you’re looking for DIY ideas, consider creating a stunning garland using autumn foliage or crafting a custom chalkboard sign to greet guests. You can also create a welcoming seasonal doormat—there are endless possibilities!

So whether you’re shopping at the expo, supporting a great cause, or diving into the world of books, Novi is the place to be this October! Enjoy the festivities, and remember to embrace the warmth of the season with some fun DIY projects!
