Mission Partners Expo at Madonna University: Engaging with Local Ministries in Livonia

On August 8, the community is beckoned to Madonna University in Livonia for a journey of discovery with local ministries. The Mission Partners Expo, now in its third year, is expected to host over 50 local mission partners, showcasing their social contributions. Ranging from advocacy, healthcare, faith formation, and more, these groups hope to leverage the expo’s platform for extended reach.

This open invitation to the public, clergy, parish staff, and ministry volunteers is a golden opportunity to engage with these service organizations and advocates firsthand, to better understand their work and impact in Southeast Michigan. The expo is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering ample time for participants to explore, learn, and network.

The Associate Director of evangelical charity for the Archdiocese of Detroit, Deacon Fred Billotto, shared his views about the expo, emphasizing collaboration. “The expo is set up like a ministry fair, for the purpose of collaboration. Everybody is invited to this, and we want everyone to come and learn about what these organizations do,” he said.

The previous expos have been quite instrumental in achieving collaborative feats. Notably, they played a substantial role in connecting parishes with local pregnancy resource centers. This has fostered Church’s “Walking with Moms in Need” initiative, aiming to enhance local support for women and families facing challenging pregnancies.

This year’s expo does not disappoint in its diversity of ministries. Educational institutions, evangelization and catechetical apostolates, healthcare ministries, pregnancy centers, human service organizations, funeral and cemetery services, financial institutions, and fraternal organizations are all set to present.

Interested attendees are encouraged to RSVP by July 31, although unregistered walk-ins are also welcome. Come explore these mission partners, learn about their exceptional work, and find possible ways of collaboration to actualize a change in your community.

The valuable initiative of the Mission Partners Expo underscores the collective effort and spirit within Detroit, drawing attention to the myriad ways the Church and local organizations serve the community. Get ready to partake in a vibrant showcase of faith, service, and fellowship.
