Novi Welcomes Graber’s First Showroom in Michigan

Novi, Michigan, has recently become home to an exciting new addition in the world of home design. Window treatment manufacturer Graber has opened a state-of-the-art design studio and showroom, marking its first location in Michigan. This new space is located next to five other major furniture stores, making it convenient for shoppers looking to spruce up their homes.

A First for Michigan

The new showroom, presented by Clear Fortress Window Solutions, is notable not just for being Graber’s first in the state, but also for being the fifth such location across the United States. Clear Fortress is a family-owned business based in Michigan that provides custom window treatments manufactured by Graber.

A Welcomed In-Person Experience

While Clear Fortress offers a unique service of sending design experts directly to homes throughout Michigan, from Lansing to Midland, the brand-new showroom allows customers to interact with actual products. They can see, touch, and feel a variety of blinds, shades, and drapes in real life.

One standout feature of the showroom is its advanced visualization technology. Customers can use a touch-screen device to upload photos of their homes and see how different window treatments would look, allowing for a more personal shopping experience.

Emphasizing Customization

According to Andrew Blanchard, CEO of Clear Fortress, the focus in home design has shifted towards customization. Today, homeowners are looking for flexibility and originality in their interior spaces. He describes a popular trend where homeowners favor earth-toned gray walls paired with white or black trim and silver or nickel fixtures for a well-rounded aesthetic.

“Whites and grays are the most universally accepted colors,” Blanchard explained. “This allows homeowners to easily switch up their decor styles as their tastes evolve over time.” In fact, about 60% of homeowners prefer hiring a designer to help customize their spaces, indicating a strong desire for unique living environments.

A Clean, Simple Look

In recent years, homeowners have moved away from ornate designs, favoring a simple, clean look. Blanchard commented on this trend, noting that people want their spaces to be easy to maintain yet appealing. “The cleaner it looks, the better off,” he said.

When it comes to window treatments, many customers now opt for colored or patterned shades as accent elements that add visual interest without overwhelming the room. Textures are also popular, with options such as sheer linen fabric in Roman shades and natural wood slats among the choices.

Safety with Modern Standards

In terms of safety, all window treatments available at the Detroit Design Studio are cordless. This change comes after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued new guidelines, aiming to protect children from potential strangulation hazards posed by longer cords. Blanchard pointed out how window treatments now come with various methods for adjusting light, whether by pulling, rolling, sliding, or tilting, making them user-friendly while ensuring safety.

Incorporating Technology

Another significant trend in home design is the integration of technology into everyday living. Blanchard highlighted that automation is increasingly becoming a part of home setups. Products like motorized blinds can be controlled with the press of a button or even through voice commands to smart devices like Amazon Alexa or Google Home, making them a practical addition to modern homes.

The grand opening of Graber’s design studio in Novi demonstrates a fresh approach to shopping for window treatments, combining functionality with contemporary styles while embracing technology for ease of use. This innovative space promises to change how residents in Michigan consider their home decor options.
