This October, the city of Novi will be buzzing with activity as it hosts the 2024 Michigan Cyber Summit and the Michigan High School Cyber Summit at the Suburban Collection Showplace on October 16 and 17. These events promise to be informative and engaging, bringing together experts, students, and professionals from various fields to dive deep into the world of cybersecurity.
On October 16, the 13th annual Michigan Cyber Summit will kick off, welcoming industry leaders from all across the country. Attendees can look forward to insightful discussions about the latest cybersecurity trends that are shaping education, business, information technology, economic development, law enforcement, and even personal safety.
This year’s summit is open to the public, making it a fantastic opportunity for business professionals, educators, law enforcement officials, and government representatives to learn and network. The agenda is packed with internationally recognized keynote speakers and panel discussions, alongside breakout sessions that cover diverse topics within the cybersecurity landscape.
Admission to the Michigan Cyber Summit is reasonably priced, with tickets available for $95 for general attendees, $80 for local government and nonprofit employees, and just $50 for college students. Each ticket includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and light snacks to keep everyone energized throughout the day.
The following day, on October 17, the focus shifts to the future of cybersecurity with the Michigan High School Cyber Summit. This event is dedicated to high school students from across the state, featuring a half-day agenda designed to educate them on cybersecurity trends and best practices.
Students will have the chance to explore numerous career opportunities available in the cybersecurity field. With a focus on helping young minds understand how to navigate the path to a successful career in this growing industry, the summit is a must-attend for any student interested in technology and security.
Registration for this summit is just $35, which also includes lunch and refreshments, making it a very accessible event for enthusiastic learners. Parents and educators are encouraged to support students in participating to ensure they gain valuable insights into the world of cybersecurity.
In addition to the summit, students will have the chance to test their skills in the ninth annual Governor’s High School Cyber Challenge. This competition is open to all Michigan high school students, including those involved in homeschooled, after-school programs, youth development, and apprenticeships.
The challenge is designed to prepare the next generation of cyber professionals by allowing them to showcase their skills in information technology, computer science, and cybersecurity through a two-round competition. It’s a fantastic way for young talents to put their knowledge to the test and possibly spark a passion for a future career in cyber fields.
Aside from the cyber summits in Novi, there’s plenty more happening in the region. On the same days—October 16 and 17—the University of Michigan will host its Future of Experiential Technologies Innovation Summit in Ann Arbor, exploring new opportunities in educational technology.
Add to that, Washtenaw Community College will be presenting its annual Fall Career & Internship Fair on October 16, providing a platform for job seekers to connect with over 70 employers. This event is free and opens a window for students and professionals alike to network and find emerging opportunities in the job market.
With such a wealth of knowledge and networking opportunities on the horizon, Novi is positioning itself as a key destination for those interested in cybersecurity and beyond. Mark your calendars, and don’t miss out on these exciting events!
