Downtown Northville to Welcome Peace, Love and Little Donuts
Northville is set to become a little sweeter as a new doughnut shop is making its way to the downtown area later this year. Peace, Love and Little Donuts, known for its colorful and retro-inspired atmosphere, will open its doors at 345 E. Cady St. in November, taking over the location previously occupied by Mithai and Chai.
Signature Mini-Doughnuts and Variety of Flavors
The shop is famous for its delicious mini-doughnuts offered in a wide array of flavors. Some of the standout options include the cinnamon sugar-coated “Groovy,” the chocolate-glazed “Far-Out,” and the maple bacon “Funkadelic,” which is topped with crispy bacon. Other flavors that customers can look forward to include salted caramel macchiato, strawberry shortcake, s’mores, Boston cream pie, sprinkles, magically delicious, raspberry truffle, and chocolate peanut nutter, among others.
Inspiration Behind the New Franchise
Owners Kathy and Frank Isgro were inspired to open this franchise after discovering the chain during a vacation. Kathy, a longtime resident of Northville Township, shared how her children immediately fell in love with the doughnuts. “When my older two graduated from high school, they said, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if we could have those little mini-doughnuts at our graduation parties?’ We had them brought in, and our guests just went crazy for them,” she recalled.
Fresh Doughnuts Made On-Site
One exciting feature of Peace, Love and Little Donuts is that customers will be able to see their doughnuts made to order right in the store. “It’s kind of like food theater,” Kathy mentioned. The shop will not produce all the doughnuts in the early morning hours; instead, they will be made fresh throughout the day. This means visitors can expect to enjoy warm doughnuts whenever they stop by.
Variety and Customization
In addition to offering a wide selection of doughnuts, the shop will also provide gluten-friendly and vegan options depending on demand. Customers will always have the chance to taste samples before deciding on their final selections. For those who enjoy a good drink with their sweets, Peace, Love and Little Donuts will have various coffee beverages and fresh-squeezed orange juice available.
A New Chapter for the Isgro Family
After retiring from a career in finance and project management, Kathy Isgro expressed her excitement about becoming a part of the bustling downtown Northville community. “We raised our kids in downtown Northville, so we were there all the time and we still frequent it a lot. When we stumbled on this concept, we thought it would complement our downtown, especially with the up and coming Northville Downs project and the expansion there,” she explained.
A Growing Franchise
Peace, Love and Little Donuts began its journey in 2009 in Pittsburgh and started franchising in 2016. Currently, there are locations in 11 states, including Michigan, where other shops can be found in Ann Arbor, Traverse City, and Portage. Another location is also coming soon to Rochester Hills.
Opening Date and Updates
While the Isgro family is aiming for a November opening, they advise that the specific date depends on interior renovations, permits, and other necessary formalities.
