Sponsor Our ArticlesThe Novak City Council voted to extend People’s Express’s stay at the Novi Civic Center for an additional six months, providing vital support for transportation services in the community. This extension allows the organization time to secure a permanent location while continuing to offer free bus rides for seniors and disabled residents. Concerns about the contract’s progress were voiced, but plans are in place for future development to enhance transport services.
Great news for the residents of Novi! The People’s Express transportation service will be calling the Novi Civic Center home for six more months. On January 6, 2025, the Novak City Council voted unanimously to extend their stay at this local hub, allowing them crucial time to find a more permanent facility. This move came after their search for a suitable location during the initial six-month period did not pan out as hoped.
As part of this extension, the city will keep providing valuable support by continuing to offer free bus rides for older adults and residents with disabilities. This is a fantastic initiative that helps ensure everyone in our community can get around, regardless of their circumstances. With a monthly fee of $450 for using the Civic Center during this extension, People’s Express is also getting a great deal while they search for a new home.
But what happens if they can’t find a new location by June? Well, there’s still a contingency plan! The contract could see another extension, this time at a slightly increased rate of $600 per month if needed. Additionally, they can take advantage of the city’s fuel pumps, although they will be billed for fuel usage. That’s handy for keeping their fleet running smoothly!
