On January 9, the school board gave the green light for construction contracts worth $8,099,432, paving the way for a series of renovations anticipated to benefit students and staff alike. The funding for these grand plans comes from bond funds that were approved in 2020 and 2023, ensuring that the projects have the necessary financial backing to deliver quality improvements.

Exciting Upgrades at East Middle School

Let’s dive into what East Middle School can look forward to! One of the standout features will be a completely new main entrance, designed to enhance security with a secure vestibule. Visitors will be welcomed into a newly designed welcome center, while the offices for the principal and assistant principal will also get a shiny upgrade. A cozy conference room and clinic are also in the plans!

But that’s not all! The learning commons, special education classrooms, life skills areas, and music rooms will all see significant enhancements, creating spaces that are both functional and inviting. East also has plans for essential improvements, including renovations to locker rooms, kitchens, and restrooms, plus some sprucing up of outdoor areas with new pavements, sidewalks, and landscaping.

One critical component of the upgrades will involve improving traffic flow around the school, making it safer for students and families as they arrive and leave the school. All of this work at East Middle School is expected to wrap up before the start of the next school year, although the addition might still be a work in progress until February 2025.

Renovations at West Middle School

West Middle School will also enjoy similar improvements to those slated for East, with upgrades planned for the learning commons, special education classrooms, and music facilities. Additionally, the locker rooms, kitchen, and restrooms are on the renovation list, as well as much-needed exterior work like pavement, sidewalks, and landscaping.
