Plymouth Shifts Focus to Old Village Area for 2024 Enhancements
Plymouth, a warm and vibrant local community, has announced an exciting new focus for neighborhood enhancements scheduled to take place over the next few years. City officials have revealed plans to significantly upgrade areas of Old Village to better serve residents and visitors alike.
The city’s Downtown Development Authority has been working diligently to update their five-year action plan, and starting in April, will host public planning sessions. This follows a string of successful improvements that have been centered around areas such as parking, pedestrian safety, Kellogg Park, and measures aimed at bolstering local businesses.
As we approach 2024, the city’s attention has honed in on the Old Village district. Initiatives in motion include repaving streets, additional upgrades to pedestrian safety, enhancements to the water system, and much more.
New life is also being breathed into the area’s dining scene, with two popular Old Village eateries currently undergoing renovations. In a heartening display of local investment, these refurbishments are being conducted by a local family and a local entrepreneur, proving Plymouth’s tight-knit community is eager to invest in its future.
Importantly, this isn’t the first time Old Village has seen rejuvenation. Recently, a formerly condemned building was purchased and reconstructed using funds from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, transforming it into a flourishing new business.
An ambitious sum of $1,000,000 is to be allocated to improve the city’s railroad crossings, enhancing safety and streamlining transportation routes for locals and tourists alike. Public updates regarding this extensive action plan will be offered at the Plymouth Downtown Development Authority meetings held regularly on the second Monday of each month at Plymouth City Hall.
