Plymouth, Michigan, is all set to buzz with excitement as it prepares for the annual Fall Festival taking place from September 6-8. This beloved local event, which has become a tradition for many families, promises a weekend filled with carnival rides, delicious food, and a variety of entertainment options.
The Fall Festival is in its 68th season and has seen immense growth over the years. Last year’s festival attracted an impressive 85,000 visitors on just one day, setting a record for the city of Plymouth. This year, the Fall Festival President, Andera Gerber, expressed hopes that they can match or exceed that success. In a letter in the festival’s program, Gerber stated, “It was the busiest day in the city… We had our very best year last year, and all the nonprofits who depend on this event as their main fundraiser did very well.”
For those who enjoy thrill and excitement, the carnival rides will be open during the festival. They will kick off at 3 p.m. on Friday and start at 11 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can purchase ticket packages to enjoy the rides, and a special offer includes $30 ride wristbands available for purchase on Sunday.
If rides are not your style, there are plenty of other activities to keep visitors entertained. The festival features a full lineup of entertainment including live music performances, a car show, a craft show, and a pet show. Various vendors will also be present, adding to the lively atmosphere. The combination of different activities makes the Fall Festival a perfect outing for families and friends of all ages.
No festival is complete without good food, and this year’s Fall Festival does not disappoint. One of the highlights will be the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, happening on Saturday, September 7, from 7 a.m. to noon. Located at The Gathering across from Kellogg Park, this breakfast is a fantastic way to start the festival day. Hungry attendees can enjoy fluffy pancakes, sausage, orange juice, and coffee or milk for a ticket price of $7 in advance or $8 at the door. Additionally, kids aged 5 and under eat free—making it affordable for families.
Another culinary tradition is the Rotary Club annual Chicken BBQ, taking place on Sunday, September 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (or until sold out) in Kellogg Park. This hearty dinner includes half a chicken, corn-on-the-cob, a roll with butter, bottled water, and a cookie. Presale tickets are available for $17, while tickets at the door will cost $20.
