Hey there, Plymouth Township residents! The air was buzzing with excitement as voters hit the polls on November 5. It was a big day for local leadership, and the results are finally here! Let’s dive into what went down in this year’s elections.
First up, our incumbent township clerk, Jerry Vorva, is officially back in business! With a solid 54 percent of the votes, Vorva racked up a total of 9,761 votes against a tough challenge from former clerk Nancy Conzelman, who secured 8,288 votes, or 46 percent of the pie. This election was particularly interesting since Conzelman, who previously wore the Republican hat, switched teams and ran this time as a Democrat.
For those who might be scratching their heads, Nancy Conzelman isn’t new to this game. She previously held the clerk position back in 2012 but was unseated by Vorva in 2016. Talk about a dramatic comeback, right? Plymouth Township residents will have Vorva at the helm for another four years!
The election also saw two incumbent Republican trustees hold their ground. Jen Buckley scored 9,391 votes—a neat 15.1 percent—and is raring to continue her service. Right behind her is John Stewart, who mustered 9,338 votes, just shy of 15 percent. But wait, there’s more! They’ll be joined by Mark Clinton, who served as the Plymouth Township treasurer before he got 9,268 votes, making up 14.9 percent. Last but not least, Sandy Groth came through with 9,056 votes for 14.5 percent. It’s clear the voters are happy with this lineup!
The competition wasn’t all smooth sailing. Among the Democratic challengers were Bob Miller, Angela Nolan, and Michael Westra, who aimed to shake things up in the township. However, the incumbents have managed to keep their seats, at least for now!
Now, let’s talk about the other races that zipped through without much fuss. Chuck Curmi, our new supervisor, went on a winning streak without any challengers after he triumphed over the current supervisor, Kurt Heise, in the August primary. He didn’t have to break a sweat on Election Day!
It was much of the same story for Bob Doroshewitz, our incumbent treasurer, who also faced no challengers after his successful primary. Looks like the incumbents are pretty popular in Plymouth Township!
As the dust settles on the November 5 election, Plymouth Township continues its current leadership. With seasoned hands like Vorva, Buckley, Stewart, Clinton, and Groth re-elected, the township is poised for another productive four years. Here’s to hoping the future brings more engaging initiatives and perhaps some exciting changes.
Stay tuned, Plymouth! We’ll keep you updated on all things local government and community happenings. Until then, keep the conversations going and let’s see what our leaders have planned next!
