News Summary

Plymouth Township is poised for significant growth as recent approvals for new housing and retail projects signal a housing boom. The Board of Trustees has endorsed the Cresthaven cluster housing project, which will offer 19 new homes, and the luxury townhomes at Plymouth Walk. Additionally, a new Meijer store will enhance local shopping. With an upcoming primary election, the township’s governance is evolving alongside its residential and commercial progress, promising benefits for existing and new residents.

Plymouth Township Sees Housing Boom with Exciting New Developments

Big changes are on the horizon in Plymouth Township as the local Board of Trustees recently stamped their approval on several significant housing projects and retail endeavors. This is an exciting time for residents and newcomers alike, as the community gears up for some fresh faces and new homes.

Cresthaven Cluster Housing Project Steps Forward

Let’s kick things off with the Cresthaven cluster housing project. On December 10, the Board gave the green light for this development, which will feature 19 brand new homes nestled on a sprawling 6.5-acre lot on the west side of Canton Center Road. It’s strategically located between Joy and Ann Arbor roads—a prime area for families to settle in.

Homebuyers can expect a variety of options, with two-story colonial and charming ranch-style homes priced in the high $700,000s. This move is particularly significant as it opens doors for new families, while also freeing up existing homes for those seeking a change—a win-win for the community!

Developer Leo Gonzalez from Phoenix Management Holdings emphasizes that this project isn’t just about building houses; it’s about fostering a community. The project will include a beautifully landscaped buffer managed by a homeowners association, and to add to the charm, a lovely pocket park for residents to enjoy.

In what sounds like an added bonus for the locality, the developers plan to enhance 650 square feet of Canton Center Road, aiming to lobby Wayne County for further improvements. This is ideal for those who travel along this busy road!

An intriguing aspect of this project is that, thanks to cluster housing provisions, the development can squeeze in more homes than typically allowed under standard zoning laws. While conventional zoning would cap the homes at 13, the cluster provisions allow for a total of 19 homes, creating a vibrant community feel.

A Nod to History and Future Growth

Luxury Townhomes Coming to Plymouth Walk

Towns at Plymouth Walk luxury townhomes. These will sprout from the former Wycoff Steel/Elks Lodge location, conveniently located near Haggerty and Ann Arbor roads. Construction is already underway, with early work focusing on digging basements for future residents.

Each townhome will offer approximately 1,800 square feet of fashionable living space featuring open-concept layouts, three cozy bedrooms, and two-car garages—all starting in the mid-$500,000s. Sounds appealing, doesn’t it?

This delightful addition is part of a larger 369-unit project in collaboration with Pomeroy Living and Toll Brothers. To ensure everyone feels the benefits, the developer will fund a $1.6 million paving initiative for about 45 nearby homes—efforts that will surely be appreciated by the surrounding communities.

Retail Development: Meijer Takes Center Stage

Meijer store at the intersection of Five Mile and Beck roads. The Way County Circuit Court recently approved plans for a massive 159,000-square-foot store. Shoppers can look forward to extensive road improvements, including new traffic signals and a right turn lane—making it easier for everyone to swing by for their essentials.

Additionally, Meijer is going above and beyond with a commitment to install a state-of-the-art CCTV camera system, featuring 130 cameras, along with a generous donation of $100,000 to Plymouth Township’s tree fund to promote a free tree program. Sounds like they’re aiming to plant roots in the community!

Upcoming Elections: New Voices on the Horizon

Plymouth Township is gearing up for an important primary election on November 5, where voters will select from seven candidates for the Board of Trustees. The stakes are high, with incumbents and newcomers vying for positions, hoping to impact issues like public safety, community service, and economic development.

With these developments underway, Plymouth Township is bustling with potential—and it seems like the best is yet to come!
