Attention all Plymouth locals! There’s a brand-new hangout that just opened its doors—welcome to the Red Ryder Lounge, the latest hub for unique dining, refreshing drinks, and, of course, a splendid selection of vinyl music. This cozy establishment welcomed guests starting from September 17, 2023, and you won’t want to miss out on what they have to offer!
Nestled in the picturesque Old Village neighborhood at 584 Starkweather St., the Red Ryder Lounge is a gem housed in a historic building that’s about 150 years old. You might remember it as the former Honey Hole diner. Owners Jeff O’Brien, his wife Alexis, and mother-in-law Sandy Mily took on an inspiring revival project, transforming the space into a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels just like your favorite cozy basement bar. With their attentive hands, the lounge now boasts classy, repurposed materials, including 15-foot benches and 1950s chairs beautifully salvaged from the Fox Hills Golf & Banquet Center.
If you’re a foodie, you’re in for a real treat! The Red Ryder Lounge features a delicious, full kitchen menu that brings modern fusion twists to classic bar bites. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty burger, crispy chicken sandwich, or traditional clam strip baskets, they’ve got you covered! Best of all, no item on the menu is priced over $20, ensuring you can enjoy a fabulous meal without breaking the bank. Just a heads-up—only French fries come frozen; everything else is fresh and made from scratch!
What goes better with good food than great drinks? The Red Ryder takes this seriously, boasting an impressive cocktail menu with hand-squeezed citrus that will tantalize your taste buds. Whether you’re longing for the classic Old Fashioned, a breezy Sea Breeze, or trendy concoctions like New Fashioneds and Palomas, the skilled bartenders have something for everyone. And if you’re a fan of classic beers, you’ll find familiar choices like Miller High Life, Stroh’s, PBR, and Old Milwaukee on tap!
But the real star of the show at the Red Ryder Lounge is the nostalgic ambiance focused on music. Say goodbye to distracting televisions and hello to retro vibes! You can immerse yourself in conversation about music or simply lose yourself in the soothing sounds of well-loved vinyl records. Jeff O’Brien, one of the owners, boasts a collection of more than 3,000 vinyl records, which he spins for guests to enjoy. And if that isn’t enough, the lounge plans to host themed vinyl nights and occasionally invite guest DJs, bringing even more life to the evening.
The Red Ryder Lounge has flexible hours, opening from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, and extending until midnight on Friday and Saturday. Whether you’re looking to kick back after work or find a social spot for the weekend, you’ll find it all right here!
The owners have a vision of crafting a special space where guests can feel the deep-rooted love of music in a welcoming environment. So gather your friends and family for a delightful evening at the Red Ryder Lounge, where you can savor delectable bites, sip refreshing drinks, and connect over the magic of vinyl. This is the kind of place where memories are made, and good times never fade!
