News Summary

Ricky Strauss has joined DC Studios as a consultant for the upcoming ‘Superman’ film, bringing impressive marketing experience from Apple TV+ and Disney. With his leadership, DC Studios aims to create a powerful marketing campaign that resonates with audiences. The film, directed by James Gunn, is set to explore Superman’s dual identity and is scheduled to be released on July 11.

Ricky Strauss Takes on a New Challenge with DC Studios

Big news for both movie and comic book fans! Ricky Strauss has just been brought on board as a consultant for DC Studios as they gear up for the much-anticipated film “Superman.” It’s an exciting move for Strauss, who recently wrapped up a notable 16-month stint as the head of marketing at Apple TV+.

A New Chapter After Apple TV+

After his time with Apple, where he was the powerhouse behind consumer marketing campaigns, creative advertising, and promotions for their original content, Strauss is stepping into a new arena. His experience in the world of media and entertainment is extensive, and fans are eager to see what he will bring to this iconic character.

Peter Safran, the co-chief of DC Studios, made it clear just how vital marketing will be for “Superman.” He stated, “We are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to ensuring that audiences know about and experience our film.” With Strauss’s expertise, it seems the film is in excellent hands.

Rich Experience in the Industry

This new project marks Strauss’s first major undertaking since his exit from Apple last year. Before his time at Apple, he had an impressive nine-year career at Disney, where he served as both president of programming and content and marketing for Disney+, and president of marketing for The Walt Disney Studios. His track record is nothing short of remarkable.

At Disney, Strauss crafted successful marketing strategies for some of the biggest franchises in pop culture, like “Star Wars” and the Marvel universe. He played a pivotal role in the campaigns for beloved films including “The Jungle Book,” “Cinderella,” “Maleficent,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Frozen,” “Moana,” and “Incredibles 2.” With such a stellar resume, it’s no surprise he was selected to help launch the new “Superman” movie.

Before his Disney days, Strauss spent seven years as president of Participant Media, where he oversaw critically acclaimed films such as “The Help,” “An Inconvenient Truth,” “The Cove,” and “Waiting for Superman.” His impressive body of work shows that he knows how to connect with audiences on a deep level, particularly when it comes to stories that matter.

What to Expect from the New Superman Film

The upcoming film, being written and directed by James Gunn, takes inspiration from the beloved DC Comics series “All Star Superman.” This movie aims to dig into Superman’s journey, focusing on his struggle to reconcile his extraordinary Kryptonian heritage with his upbringing as Clark Kent in good old Smallville, Kansas.

This interpretation of Superman strives to capture the essence of truth, justice, and American values while being rooted in a spirit of human kindness. This fresh take on the character promises to deliver a powerful and heartfelt story to the audience.

A Star-Studded Cast

Fans are also buzzing about the stellar cast that brings this new “Superman” to life. David Cornswet will take on the iconic role of Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan will portray Lois Lane. The formidable Nicholas Hoult has been cast as the villainous Lex Luthor. With such talent involved, there’s no doubt that the excitement is building!

Release Date Set for July

Mark your calendars because “Superman” is set to fly into theaters exclusively on July 11. With Ricky Strauss now on board, fans can be assured that the marketing for this film will be top-notch, as DC Studios continues to elevate the anticipation for this exciting new chapter in the superhero universe.

As we await further updates, it’s clear that with Strauss’s expertise, DC Studios is poised to deliver a Superman film that not only honors the past but also paves the way for a bright future!
