Schoolcraft College Foundation Launches Vision 2025 Campaign to Support Students in Livonia

Schoolcraft College Foundation: Supporting Dreams in Livonia

In the beautiful city of Livonia, Michigan, the Schoolcraft College Foundation is making a significant impact. This organization plays a crucial role in helping Schoolcraft College fulfill its mission. How do they do that? By working hand-in-hand with donors, businesses, and private foundations to secure the resources needed for students to thrive.

Understanding the Challenges

Based on data from the 2023-24 Non-Returning Student Survey, financial challenges remain a significant barrier for many students. In fact, around 20% of students cited that financial issues were a major reason they didn’t return to school. It’s important to note that a staggering 58% of these students were first-generation college attendees. These students are often navigating uncharted waters, encountering unique challenges that can make it difficult for them to continue their education.

What’s even more alarming is that approximately 48% of two-year college students reported struggling with food insecurity. These statistics are not just numbers; they represent real students facing tough choices every day. The Schoolcraft College Foundation has taken a close look at these issues and is determined to help.

Vision 2025 Campaign

Enter the Vision 2025 campaign. Launched with the goal of ensuring that financial constraints never hinder a student’s aspirations, this campaign aims to support the educational journeys of students in Livonia and beyond. The foundation is committed to making sure that no one has to choose between education and basic needs like food and housing.

There are many ways the local community can lend a helping hand to this vital initiative. Whether it’s through donations, participating in fundraising events, or simply spreading the word, every little bit helps. By pooling resources, the foundation is boosting investment returns, meaning more funding can go directly to students who need it most.

How You Can Contribute

So how can you be a part of this incredible mission? Here are just a few suggestions:

  • Make a Donation: Every dollar counts! Contributing financially, no matter the amount, helps students access resources and services that can change their lives.
  • Volunteer: The foundation is always looking for community ambassadors. Your time and talents can assist in various projects and campaigns.
  • Sponsor Events: Local businesses can sponsor fundraising events, which not only helps the foundation but also brings visibility to your brand.

Meet the Leaders

Behind this compassionate mission are dedicated leaders, including Lynn Coburn, the President of the Board of Governors, and her capable team: Marina L. Shoemaker, Vice President; Robin L. Whitfield, Treasurer; and Clyde Rivard, Secretary. Their commitment to providing opportunities for students is unwavering. With individuals like Brian Broderick, a Trustee of Schoolcraft College, and Glenn R. Cerny, Ed.D., the President of the college, the foundation has strong support at every level.

The Executive Director of the Schoolcraft College Foundation, Dawn Dyer Magretta, CFRE, plays a crucial role in guiding these efforts. Their combined experience and passion for education are what drive the foundation’s vision of a brighter future for students.
