There’s word around town about a recent winner of the Michigan Lottery. A gentleman from Wayne County, along with his wife, finds themselves in a lovely position after claiming a share of a $697,974 Fantasy 5 jackpot win.
The big winning ticket was one of three split between another two lucky folks – one from Macomb County, and another from Isabella County. These fortunate players each laid claim to $232,658 after matching the winning numbers drawn on July 12. The striking numbers were 08-17-18-24-29.
The Wayne County man, David Constantakis, bought his lucky ticket in Frankfort during vacation, making a stop at the Family Fare on 1002 Forest Avenue for some snacks. “I wrapped up our canoe trip, went back to the store, and scanned my tickets”, said Constantakis. “A notification popped up asking me to see the retailer”.
He proceeded to verify the drawn numbers online with his wife. “She slowly read the numbers up to the last two, saying ‘If we’ve got 24 and 29, we’re going to be sitting pretty!’. To our delight, those were indeed my last two digits! To say I was taken aback is an understatement”, a still-dumbfounded Constantakis explained.
After pocketing his winnings, Constantakis, now 68, aims to pay off his home, make charitable donations, and save whatever remains. Meanwhile, the winners from the other two counties have decided to stay under the radar, their identities protected.
David Constantakis isn’t alone in his good fortune. Just recently, another Michigan man lucked out with a $4M scratch-off ticket win. These feel-good stories make one wonder – could the next winning ticket be right around the corner?
Remember, folks: You can’t win if you don’t play. So why not give it a try?
