With the cost of a stay set at just 50 cents, the inn was a welcoming haven that even provided accommodations for horses in a stable—a vital service during those traveling days.

The White Horse Inn has had its ups and downs, having served as a stop on the Underground Railroad and reportedly functioning as a brothel during different periods. Following a series of ownership changes, it was renamed the White Horse Inn in the early 1920s when Frank Peters took over. Unfortunately, after years of wear and tear, the beloved restaurant was forced to close its doors in 2012, leaving many in the community longing for its return.
