Get ready, Novi! The city is gearing up for the third annual Women Veterans Conference taking place from October 3 to 5, at the Four Points by Sheraton Detroit. This year, the conference promises to be a heartwarming celebration for women who have bravely served in the military, those who continue to serve, and everyone who advocates for the rights and well-being of women veterans and service members across Michigan.
This year’s event will be packed with insightful speakers, interactive activities, and plenty of chances to advocate for women veterans. Whether you are a veteran, a family member, or someone who supports veterans, this conference is an excellent opportunity to connect with others and learn about the issues facing women in the military.
Tickets to this empowering event are only $30 for women veterans. Plus, the conference welcomes sponsorships and donations to help support the cause. If you’re interested in joining or want to know more, be sure to visit the registration page for all the details!
In addition to the Women Veterans Conference, there’s more good news for Michigan’s veterans. The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) is currently accepting applications for the Fiscal Year 2025 Michigan Veteran Homelessness Prevention Grant. This program aims to distribute up to $2.5 million to nonprofit organizations that support veterans facing homelessness.
Grants of up to $250,000 each will be given to qualifying Michigan-based nonprofits that work to combat homelessness among veterans and their families. This funding will help provide immediate relief and long-term housing solutions, including temporary housing, renovations, and programs that encourage landlords to take in veterans. Nonprofits interested in applying must submit a Letter of Intent by September 19 and the final application by 5 p.m. on September 30.
But wait, there’s more happening in the community! Local American Legion posts are hosting a variety of fun events:
Mark your calendars for September 28, as the Holly Area Veterans Resource Center will hold a Forum for Women Veterans at Holly Nazarene Church. The event will begin with a luncheon and will feature guest speakers and a panel discussion focusing on resources available for women veterans. This event is free, and registration is required!
With so many exciting events and supportive resources available, there’s never been a better time to get involved. If you know of any veterans’ events happening in Oakland County, don’t forget to share the information so everyone can join in!
So, whether you’re a veteran or a supporter, mark those calendars, register for the conference, and join in on the community fun. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our veterans!
